Why aren't all my abilities imported from my roster?

When importing a roster, UnitCrunch automatically matches Universal Special Rules (USRs). These are standardised abilities like BLAST, RAPID FIRE 1, SUSTAINED HITS 2, LETHAL HITS, etc.

What gets matched automatically

USR abilities follow predictable patterns that UnitCrunch can reliably interpret:

  • Weapon abilities: BLAST, RAPID FIRE X, MELTA X, SUSTAINED HITS X, LETHAL HITS, DEVASTATING WOUNDS, TORRENT, TWIN-LINKED, LANCE, ANTI-X X+, IGNORES COVER
  • Defensive abilities: FEEL NO PAIN X+, invulnerable saves

Some weapon keywords like HEAVY, ASSAULT, PISTOL, HAZARDOUS, INDIRECT FIRE, and PRECISION are recognised but don't create modifiers because they either don't affect simulation results or aren't yet supported.

What doesn't get matched

Unit-specific abilities and faction rules are not automatically matched. These abilities have unique effects that vary between units and factions, making automatic interpretation unreliable.

Examples of abilities that won't be matched:

  • Faction-specific rules
  • Unit-specific abilities
  • Detachment rules and enhancements

What to do about unmatched abilities

After importing, check the Import Notes section to see which abilities weren't matched. For any that affect your simulation results, you can add them manually as custom modifiers on your profile.

See Modifier Scopes for guidance on adding abilities manually.
